I want to thank you for sharing this little known WWII history. It is fascinating!

My father was part of WWII Operation Aphrodite, where US military personnel used radio and television cameras to fly ‘Weary Willie’ airplanes remotely from the ground after the pilot ejected.

My Dad went to work for IBM. I think he may have attended the IRE in October 1953 where papers were submitted by pioneers of the new computer fields. (I found his copy of the Proccefings from that meeting.) Dad also worked with Dr Fred Brooks, who developed IBM’s 360 operating system, and he installed the first mainframe IBM ever sold commercially (to GE.)
